Welcome back!
The first place I will be talking about is the Student Recreation and Wellness Center here at Washburn University. The SRWC is free for Washburn students and is an awesome place for those looking to find a place to have fun while also taking care of yourself.
On the first floor of the SRWC there is a three-court gym where students can play basketball, volleyball, badminton and other sports. Also on the first floor there is the infamous 25 foot rock wall where more adventurous students can challenge themselves. I haven't gotten the courage to do this yet, but my friends and I may in the future. The second floor is home to fitness loft and walking track. The fitness loft contains lots of fitness equipment ranging from treadmills and stair masters for beginners to weight sets for more hardcore exercisers. The walking track outlines the first floor, and overlooks Yager stadium where you can often watch various sporting events taking place.
The SWRC also has many opportunities for students to get involved through intramurals. Students and faculty have the opportunity to meet new people through starting their team, or joining a current team. Intramurals allow students to grow their team building skills while making friends and staying fit. Students also have the opportunity for employment at the rec. The SRWC also includes a wellness suite which hosts group exercise programs. It also hosts many wellness seminars where students can educate themselves about the importance of staying healthy. I enjoy going to the rec with my friends because it is a great place to hang out while doing something productive!
The SWRC is a great place for those looking to get involved on campus while staying healthy. I recommend everyone checks it out!

The SWRC sounds like a cool place! I may look into it in the future and hopefully get into shape a little better. The programs also sound really cool too. Depending on what's offered I may be tempted to sign up or go to one myself. It's a cool thing to look into, that's for sure!
ReplyDeleteAfter reading your intro post I was expecting a description of a food place inside the SRWC...I have to admit that is one building I have not entered. Your description of it makes me want to pretend I'm the fit and wellness preoccupied type and walk in...I just fear I won't know how to use the equipment. 'Might need a little help.
ReplyDeleteOr may be it wasn't the intro post...lol
